Due to the beautiful, long, sandy and pebble beaches, magnificent bays of turquoise-blue colors, landscaped beaches with sports and catering facilities, small coves, Kefallinia, as they still call the island, is becoming an increasingly popular destination. Many beaches are Blue Flag winners due to their crystal clear water.

The nearest beaches to Argostoli are Makris Gialos, Costa Costa beach and Platis Gialos. They are about ten minutes drive from our apartments. The beaches are organized with umbrellas, deck chairs and showers. Each has its own bar and on the beach of Makris Gialos there is a tavern of the same name that we recommend. Parties are often organized on the Costa Costa beach.

Mirtos Beach

The name Kefalonia is connotated to the name of this beach. There is no person who has chosen this island as a holiday destination without seeing this beautiful beach or swimming on it. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, hence why it carries the Blue Flag. Visitors are fascinated by the untouched nature of the area. The pictures cannot be described in words: large rocks surround the bay and the white pebbles at the bottom of the sea and the turquoise blue water attract swimmers

Eglina Beach

It is about 7 km from Argostoli, near the airport. A sand beach, Eglina is ideal for families with children. On this beach, as well as on many other sandy beaches, turtles make their “nests” in which they lay eggs from which the young will hatch at the end of September.

Ai Helis Beach

Located about 10 km from Argostoli, near the village of Svoronata, the large sandy beach of Ai Helis offers many attractions for visitors. Shallow, crystal clear water and beautiful gray-brown sand make this beach ideal for families with children. Access is easy, and the beach has organized sun loungers and parasols and a bar. In the summer months, beach parties are organized.

Avithos Beach

It is located near the villages of Caligata and Svoronata, approximately 12 km from Argostoli. This is a sandy beach with a beautiful mountain background of steep cliffs and lush vegetation. Shallow, crystal clear water makes it very safe for children. There is a bar as well as organized sun loungers, umbrellas, and available parking is available.

Petani Beach

Petani is a magnificent beach located at a distance of 35km west of Argostoli, on the beautiful Paliki peninsula. Blue crystal water, stunning scenery and the smell of iodine is something you will remember for a long time. The beach is covered mostly with stones and pebbles. Next to the beach is a parking lot and two taverns with delicious, local food.

Antisamos Beach

Antisamos beach is one of the beaches that fascinates most visitors to Kefalonia. On the way to the bay, the view is breathtaking, combining the turquoise blue of the sea and the green of the lush vegetation of the surrounding hills. The water is perfectly clear and full of fish, ideal for diving enthusiasts. It was awarded the Blue Flag, located 27 km east of Argostoli and a few kilometers from the port of Sami. It is very well organized. The Mojito beach bar and restaurant and water sports will satisfy your food and adventure requirements. Antisamos gained world fame thanks to the Hollywood film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”, where some of the scenes were filmed.

Xi Beach

This is also a very famous beach located not far from Lixouri, the second largest city in Kefalonia. A long beach that amazes visitors with its red sand, shallow water and is ideal for families with small children!

Embilissi Beach

This beautiful white pebble beach is 2 km from the village of Fiskardo. Rock formations on both sides of the beach create a magical environment. The beach is not organized so you can enjoy the natural beauty with rich vegetation and crystal clear green water.

Foki Beach

Located 1.5 km from the village of Fiskardo, the name derives from the frequent occurrence of Mediterranean fur seals (Greek Fokia), Monachus Monachus. The beach is not arranged and is ideal for those who like shade, silence and a pebble beach. This deep bay overlooking Ithaca is surrounded by a dense forest of cypresses and olive trees, which descends to the emerald crystal sea.

Alaties Beach

This beautiful small bay is located in the Erissos region, less than 9 km from Fiskardo. In the village of Maganos, turn left and follow the signs for Alaties beach and Chalikeri. The name Alaties comes from the salt that dries in the small cavities of the rocks near the beach. After a day spent in Fiscardo and nearby beaches, we recommend that you spend the afternoon here enjoying the sunset at this location and be sure to visit the “Alaties All-Day Bar & Restaurant” and complete the enjoyment with delicious Mediterranean food prepared by Makis and his family.
